This is a medium route around the hill of Los Frailecillos, in the Sierra de Montejaque. Beautiful and hidden landscapes among cork oak and holm oak groves, which will allow us to discover one of the most beautiful corners with karstic relief in this sector of the Natural Park.
Half-day hike, starting from Tambor del Llano, towards the Puerto de los Vientos, following the Cañada de las 10 Pilas. We start from Tambor del Llano, leaving the farm along the blue inland route (Campobuches River). When you reach the river turn right, following its course upstream (1). To avoid the track that runs along the Cañada de las 10 Pilas), cross the Campobuches River and take a path that goes through the forest, without having to reach the track (2). In 10 minutes the path crosses the track, and continues between the cork oaks, climbing little by little up to the Puerto de los Vientos, joining the track on the final ascent. Here we encounter a beautiful panorama (3) as we face the rocky mountain of Los Lajares, and then descend along the track to Los Alamos. There we turn left, to take the road to the Zurraque pass, now in the province of Malaga, opening the gate that separates the farms, which also serves as a provincial boundary (4). A few hundred metres further on, we come to another gate, and a second one, when the path crosses the stream, which we have to open and leave closed, and which gives us access to the path that takes us along the rocky mountainside to the pass (5).
After crossing the Zurraque pass, the path crosses the Zurraque plain and once again enters the holm oak forest until it reaches the El Burfo plain. On the plain, you have to be careful not to lose the route. We need to cross the plain in width before we reach the farmhouse at the end (6). There are some large dates drawn with stones in the meadow, which mark the place where we must cross the plain. The path opens up a path through the young holm oak grove to take us to the Burfo plain. There the route goes around the Frailecillos hill, along a path (7) that is taken before the chasm, which ascends a small hill, and then descends towards the meadows of La Jarastepa.
A gate allows us to leave the estate, and we come across the main road that leads to Montejaque via Puerto Forcila. We follow it for a stretch in the direction of Grazalema (to the left, 8). Soon, to return we turn off towards the Cabrizal hill (9), to descend to Campubuches through the Las Perejilas spot. After finding the track that runs along the Cañada de las 10 pilas, we can enter Tambor del Llano, through the main gate, leaving the track in the area of Campobuche, past the bridge over the river, to turn off to the left along the path that avoids the track, and also pass by the monumental arclornoque called de las Ánimas (10). A splendid route to enjoy the landscapes of this mountain range, and to get to know the cork oak and holm oak groves that populate its hills and ridges, with all their wealth of fauna and flora.
