JOHN ESCORS
Text by the writer and novelist Jesus Maeso de la Torre
"Juan captures in his works the sensory impression, symbolism and abstract expressionism. An intuitive and self-taught creator, his painting contains a pictorial avant-garde of enormous quality, with serene, fragile and subtle landscapes. In his creations, Juan Escors does not displace any genre. He paints exotic worlds, blurred so that nobody confuses them with the academicism of official paintings, because what they really represent are his impulses as a consummate artist.
Juan's coloured reality merges into a unique visual impression that shares the same light and movement of life, becoming a metaphor for the pictorial world of dreams.
In the work of Juan Escors various currents of painting converge, but above all an impressionist touch prevails that is capable of engulfing everything that surrounds it, the gaze of the beholder, and even the colours of the rainbow, the lost illusion, the necessary light and the warmth of colour.
After looking at his paintings, a phrase that the American painter Edward Hopper said about himself comes to mind: ".I may not be so human". Juan is. But with the unmistakable sign of a great artist".
Jesús Maeso de la Torre, writer.
Biography
Juan Escors was born in Algar (Cadiz) in 1973.
An intuitive and self-taught painter, he came into contact with this discipline from a very early age, where at the age of 11 he was awarded a prize for a pictorial work that was published in the cultural magazine of the Diputación de Cadiz. He studied Business Science and Law at university, and currently works as a lawyer in the Escors&Urbina office in El Puerto de Santa Maria, where he alternates painting part-time.
He has participated in group and solo exhibitions in museums, galleries and fairs both nationally and internationally. His work in the modality of abstract expressionism possesses a great power of communication revealing an expansive and enthusiastic personality. His technique is interesting for the harmonic handling of colour and its mixtures that culminate in diaphanous paintings that explode in calm and warmth.
ART STATEMENT
I paint visceral landscapes that flow from an intimate and schematic vision of reality, where my pictorial proposal is an intuitive exercise of translating what the landscape wants to reveal to us. In a contemporary style with strong earth tones and where colour fills the spaces portraying serenity and fragility together with ferocity and turbulence.
