Landscapes
Exhibition by Martina Rodríguez Morán
Tambor del Llano is not an art gallery, but every year we are pleased to invite an artist to exhibit their work using the spaces of this rural accommodation in the Sierra de Grazalema Natural Park. The clients of this establishment have the added value of enjoying contemporary art as a complement to the wonderful environment that surrounds us. Thanks to Martina Rodríguez Morán for bringing her work and talent to us.
"I seek to achieve a powerful visual effect. The less conventional the more lucid, the more provocative the more attractive, the more sensitive and fresh".
He completed his studies in Architecture at the Polytechnic School of Madrid, which he always considered to be the foundation on which to build his artistic career.
His work is influenced by his studies, but fundamentally by his continuous desire for research, creation and self-improvement. Since 2016 he has been involved in creation, participating in seven group exhibitions, four solo exhibitions and several painting competitions such as the BMW Painting Prize. His painting is full of expressiveness and spontaneity, exploring the link between the virtual and reality.
Her stays in Philadelphia and São Paulo complement her training as an architect. She has been selected in 2017, 2018 and 2019 for the BMW Painting Award. Her first solo exhibition at the gallery opens as part of the Hybrid Festival of alternative art spaces in Madrid.
Inner energy, temperament, resolution determine his creative attitude and give him the strength and the plastic boldness that strengthens his painting.

"Painting allows me to create the parameters of my own expression. I seek to achieve a powerful visual effect. The less conventional the more lucid, the more provocative the more attractive, the more sensitive and fresh".
My creative process oscillates between the manual and the digital. The mathematical nature of digital work stabilises the instinctive quality of creative work, achieving a balance between order and chance".
The exhibition
Martina makes the images go back and forth from the canvas to the digital border of the iPad where she cooks her proposals. We witness the pulse she gives to painting: she dynamites the form, makes the colour vibrate and bends the gesture in her path. His grammar of impulses, so often filtered and altered, is part and parcel of this construction by crystallisation. A complex sensation opens up before the result: plane and landscape at the same time, a movement as specific to the painting itself as it is an echo of its process.
In his canvases of singular exuberance and movement, he recreates himself in impulses and strokes that he replicates and deforms. The compositional recurrence in form and colour arranges these automatisms as filters of symmetry and structure. The result is a fresh, enigmatic and exuberant language, which highlights the expression and spontaneity of his works.
The group of works form part of a line of research and consolidation of the impulses themselves. Through the application of filters such as replication, symmetry, change of scale and deformation, specific orders are achieved that structure the gaze, generating a third channel that allows an accessible reading of these automatisms.
In the larger format works one can recognise images with a certain surrealistic sense due to the agglomeration of pictorial gestures, but when he deals with a smaller format, he nevertheless manifests geometric intentions in the composition and develops short series, abstract studies, in which he investigates and perfects the visual effects.
